Location and How to Get to the Waterfalls

These two waterfalls are located in a forest area in Aiq Beriq Village, North Batukliang District, Central Lombok Regency. From Mataram City, the journey takes about an hour by motorcycle or car.

You can also hire a motorcycle taxi from the parking lot to the Benang Kelambu Waterfall gate for IDR 35,000 per person.

After passing through the entrance, it takes about a 10-minute walk to reach Benang Stokel Waterfall. The name “Benang Stokel” comes from the Sasak language, meaning “a bundle of thread,” symbolizing two fountains of water falling side by side, hence the name Twin Waterfall.

Situated in the Tete Batu region, our tour will encompass several destinations to make this experience more captivating and memorable for you. The initial stop is Sukarara Village, renowned for its traditional Lombok weaving craftsmanship.

Next, we visit Beleka Village, known for producing rattan and thatch handicrafts, often referred to as Ketaq. A tour of Loyok Village is also a must, as it is renowned for its bamboo crafts.

Having enjoyed the aforementioned villages, we reach Tete Batu Tourism Village, Lombok’s answer to Ubud, boasting natural mountain vistas and pristine rice fields. After this visit, the journey continues with a one-hour car ride to the fish market in Tanjung Luar. Here, in the bustling market, you can witness the variety of fish caught by local fishermen, ranging from small to large, which are brought in from various locations and sold fresh from the sea.

Option transport to Pink Beach

1. Take a 30-minute boat ride to Cumi Island for an hour of snorkeling. Then, a 20-minute trip to Maringke Island to observe the traditional houses and daily activities of the fishing community.

Afterward, return to the boat for a 30-minute journey to Pink Beach, where you’ll enjoy lunch with grilled fish and more. At Pink Beach, engage in snorkeling while awaiting the sunset before taking the boat back to Tanjung Luar village, continuing your return to the hotel.

Tetebatu and the surrounding areas are mainly known for its many rice terraces and paddies. These will most probably remind you of Ubud on Bali and they can almost keep up. Almost. However, the bonus is the view at the Rinjani, the second highest volcano in Indonesia.

Because of that, Tetebatu is also known as “the Ubud of Lombok” – but I can only partly agree. Sure, the rice terraces, the peaceful and green surrounding areas as well as the friendly people remind of Ubud. However, it is MUCH quieter and the towns are hardly to compare. Ubud is compared to Tetebatu a destination for mass tourism. In contrast to Ubud, art, crafts and traditional dances don’t play a role in Tetebatu but rather agriculture.

Unfortunately, I had some bad luck with the weather during my stay and I couldn’t see the full mountain panorama. Also with the pictures of the rice terraces I would have liked a little bit more sunshine because then they would have a bright green color and terrific views with a clear blue sky. At the end it even started to rain a little.

Besides rice, the people of Tetebatu also grow tobacco, many exotic fruits, cocoa, coffee, chili, macadamia nuts, vanilla and much more. If you want you can buy those products directly from the locals. It’s hardly possible to get it fresher and more natural.

You can also visit the so-called Monkey Forest, which is located about 4 kilometers north of Tetebatu. You can also see the grey macaques (often referred to as ugly), which are pretty common on Bali and Lombok. But also the rarer and “more beautiful” black monkeys can be seen around Tetebatu.

You can also explore beautiful waterfalls in the surrounding area. Namely, the Jeruk Manis, Jukut or Otak Kokok/Joben waterfall. However, you need to hike or drive to reach those waterfalls.

A somewhat not so spectacular and smaller waterfall you can see near the Sasak village at the Monkey Forest. It’s relatively easy to reach from the village.
